Our Story

Why Waris Amanah Was Founded

The name Waris Amanah reflects what we believe our role to be: a trusted custodian of what families leave behind. Waris — heir — and amanah — trust — together describe the relationship we aim to build with every person who comes to us.

Waris Amanah was established in Kuala Lumpur by practitioners who recognised that many families facing estate matters feel unsure where to begin, and uncertain whether they can afford proper help. Our answer was to build a practice with transparent pricing, plain-language explanations, and a pace set entirely by the client.

We serve both Muslim and non-Muslim estates throughout Malaysia, drawing on knowledge of the Probate and Administration Act 1959, the Distribution Act 1958, and where applicable, the Islamic law of faraid. Our approach is the same regardless of the nature of the estate: careful, considered, and unhurried.

Since opening our Kuala Lumpur office at Menara Hap Seng, we have assisted families in matters ranging from modest estates with a single property to more involved situations requiring formal court representation. In each case, the measure of our work is whether the family we serve feels properly supported and well informed throughout.

Our Mission

To make the law of inheritance accessible to all Malaysian families — with patience, clarity, and the kind of care that a serious matter deserves.

Our Values

  • Sensitivity to the circumstances each family brings
  • Honesty about what the process involves
  • Respect for confidentiality at every stage
  • Fees that are clear and agreed in advance

Inheritance Law Expertise in Kuala Lumpur

Estate and inheritance matters in Malaysia sit at the intersection of civil law and, for Muslim estates, the principles of faraid — the Islamic rules of distribution. Navigating this landscape calls for practitioners who understand both frameworks and can explain each one in terms that a family member, rather than a legal professional, will find clear and useful.

Waris Amanah focuses specifically on this area of law. We do not take on matters outside inheritance, probate, and estate administration. That focus means the guidance we offer is grounded in daily, current practice rather than occasional familiarity with the subject. Whether a family requires assistance understanding a will, managing the administration of an intestate estate, or formal representation in a matter that has become more complex, we bring the same level of attention and care to each instruction.

Our office at Menara Hap Seng in Jalan P. Ramlee places us conveniently in central Kuala Lumpur, accessible from across the Klang Valley. We serve clients from a wide range of backgrounds and work comfortably in English and Bahasa Malaysia. For those who cannot visit in person, telephone and written consultations are available by arrangement.

If you are uncertain whether legal assistance is needed, or simply unsure where to begin, we welcome a first conversation without any commitment to proceed further. Understanding your situation is a reasonable first step, and it is one we are glad to take with you.
